First mounted Crow warriors

 Hi you all!

Today I wanted to show you the first finished Crow warriors on horse. These are versions of the ones on foot I made a while ago (PW-01 for those familiar with them ;-) )

I had forgotten how much work goes into these figures, with the many ornaments and the hair extensions on the back, but I'm really happy about how they turned up :-)

The next ones are almost finished, so stay tuned! :-)

Cheers,
Juan

Cheyenne Warrior Societies

 Hi you all!

Here is a new pack for the Plains Indians: Warrior Society members of the Cheyenne.

The first one is an officer of the Coyote Society (also Kit Fox Men or Fox Soldiers).

Typical regalia is his bowlance (carried by two of the members of the society), his crescent-shaped leather necklace and the two eagle feathers in his scalplock. This figure is also armed with a blanket gun (a shawed off gun), but many of them had bow and arrows when dancing.

Coyote Society members were cunning, run big distances and had great endurance, like the coyote, and painted their bodies yellow, except the lower parts of legs and arms, that were painted red.

The second one is a Contrary Warrior, or member of the Bow-String Society (or Inverted Bow-String Society).

These warriors acted as contraries and carried a bow-spear. They wore an stuffed owl on the forehead. They also had a bone whistle suspended from a string around their necks.
They had to be specially strong of body and mind and be very courageous, and act in a solemn and stoic manner. They painted their bodies and clothes red.
For this figure I opted for a striking pose. He is also a bit bigger than the others.

The third one is one of the bravest men of the Hoof-Rattle warrior society, also known as Elk Soldiers or Crooked Lance.

The two bravest men in this Warrior Society carried each a crooked lance wrapped in otter skin with pendants of eagle feathers. The rest of the members of this society carried straight lances wrapped in otter skin, but, appart from this, there wasn't much common regalia. This warrior wears a warshirt with scalps and a stand-up warbonnet (typical of both Cheyenne and Blackfeet) to show his high warrior status.

The fourth one is my favorite: a member of the Red-Shield society (also Bull Soldiers or Buffalo Warriors).

Typical society regalia is his shield (painted red) with the buffalo bull's tail still atached and his headdress of buffalo skin with horns. Warriors of this society used to arm themselves with spears, like this one. They painted their bodies and the headdress' horns red.
This one wears also hide leggings with a quilled band and a pectoral made of hairpipes.

These were a blast to sculpt. I hope you like them!
